Two retirements this week

  • Apex ended sales of its legacy subscription evaluations — the Full 100K and 150K are retired, with sales closed after an extension that ran to August 11. Recorded at retirement: $49 resets and a $125 lifetime PA activation on the legacy schedule. The same week, Apex moved its current Intraday PA activation fee to a flat $59 for every account size.
  • Maven removed the Sprint 5K from its lineup — absent in site checks on August 14 and 15, now marked defunct on our board.

Retired challenges are never deleted from FirmTiers. They stay in the catalogue as defunct, with their parameters and lifespan, because the products a firm quietly withdraws are part of its record.

How we read a retirement

Our standing interpretation, stated plainly: a retired challenge is one that was not profitable for the firm — either its payouts ran too high against what it charged, or it did not sell.

That is FirmTiers analysis built on the observable facts — the retirement itself, the product's parameters, how long it lived, and payout evidence where it exists. It is not a sourced claim about either firm's books, and firms do not announce which of the two reasons applied. But challenge products that price well for the firm do not get pulled, and a delisting is the one pricing signal a firm cannot spin.

What it changes for readers

A retirement tells you where the firm found the economics uncomfortable. When a legacy pricing structure is closed to new buyers while a cheaper flat-fee replacement is promoted the same week — Apex's $59 flat activation — the direction of the repricing is the information. Check what replaced the retired product, and what changed in the parameters between the two.
