PROP FIRM PAYOUT SCANDAL: Equity Edge Denies $2,500 Then the Evidence Goes Missing

In this article

Traders keep getting the same raw deal. Hit your target. Request your money. Watch the firm invent a rule. Then watch the complaint disappear.

Equity Edge promo branding used in the PropFirmsGuru expose post

Another day, another funded trader staring at a denial letter.

On September 9, 2026, watchdog account @PropFirmsGuru lit up Equity Edge (@EquityEdgeUK) for what looks like textbook payout games. A trader on a $10,000 account asked for $2,500. Equity Edge said no. The excuse? News trading.

The timestamps tell a different story.

According to the expose:

  • The rule the trader was shown: no opening or closing 2 minutes before or after high-impact news
  • The trader's entries: 9 minutes and 42 minutes after the event
  • Equity Edge's twist: treat a whole 29-minute speech like one giant restricted zone

That is not a gray area. That is a firm stretching the rulebook until the payout snaps.

The Thread That Lit The Match

@PropFirmsGuru scam alert on Equity Edge, Sep 9, 2026, including the unavailable quoted post

They Sold One Rule. They Enforced Another.

Dig into Equity Edge's own site and the shell game gets louder.

On Legacy / Swift accounts, the published news rule is a tight 2-minute window on each side of high-impact news. On Instant accounts, it balloons to a wider window, and for speeches the clock starts before the talk and ends after it finishes.

So ask the only question that matters. If this trader got the 2-minute version in writing, how does a 29-minute speech suddenly become a lockdown?

Either Equity Edge:

  1. slapped Instant/speech logic onto an account sold under a tighter rule, or
  1. rewrote the window after the profit showed up

Traders know which one pays the firm's bills.

And then comes the real trap. Equity Edge's 25% news-profit guillotine. If "news" profits cross 25% of the profit share, the firm can reject the whole payout and forfeit the money. One disputed clock reading turns into a full wipe.

This industry loves that move. In June 2026, a Reddit trader said Equity Edge killed an entire payout over a news flag worth about $42. Forty-two dollars. Maximum punishment. Minimum shame.

Then The Original Post Vanished

Here is where it gets dirty.

PropFirmsGuru did not invent this out of thin air. The post quotes another tweet. That tweet, status ID 2097337587694239980, now shows "This post is unavailable" on X. Open the link and you get the digital shrug: page does not exist.

Unavailable quoted post on the PropFirmsGuru thread, with public replies stacking up

"This post is unavailable" plus replies telling traders to stay away and demanding Equity Edge pay @BeekayLife

Quotes UI has pointed that dead ID toward @PropTradingHQ. Replies in the thread tell Equity Edge to "Pay the trader @BeekayLife" (also tagged as @berkaylife in the original post).

We cannot yet wave a bank receipt and swear Equity Edge bought silence. We can say the pattern is rotten and familiar:

  • Denial story hits the timeline with receipts
  • Community piles on
  • Original complaint goes dark
  • Firm hopes everyone moves on

If the trader got paid only after the spotlight, that is not goodwill. That is panic management. One quiet check costs less than a public record of how the denial was built.

In prop world, "resolved" often means "paid the loud one and deleted the paper trail."

This Is The Business Model, Not A Glitch

Equity Edge is not a lone wolf. This is how too many prop firms work when the withdrawal button gets pressed.

  • Rules parked in FAQ pages instead of a clear contract traders can trust before they pay
  • Payouts "subject to review," which usually means subject to whatever helps the house
  • Flashy claims like 48-hour payouts while the fine print adds waiting periods, compliance vetoes, and discretionary kill switches
  • Big "paid to traders" banners on conference backdrops while individual traders fight for four figures

When you win, you are a success story.

When you request the money, you are a risk case.

When you go public, you are a PR problem.

Traders are not crazy for smelling a pattern. Firms that want to keep challenge fees flowing have every incentive to deny first and explain later.

Equity Edge Still Owes Answers

Not vibes. Not a support ticket that dies in a queue. Answers.

  1. Was the $10k account Legacy, Swift, Flagship, or Instant?
  1. What exact rule text did the trader see before those trades?
  1. What were the speech timestamps versus the open and close times?
  1. Was the $2,500 later paid, yes or no, in writing?
  1. Why is the quoted original complaint unavailable?

Until those land in public, every glossy payout certificate is just advertising.

Bottom Line For Traders

If a firm can turn a 2-minute news window into a 29-minute speech cage the moment you ask for your cut, you are not funded. You are rented hope.

If a firm pays only after X turns the lights on, you are not a partner. You are a liability they settled.

If the complaint post disappears after the heat, the injustice did not end. It got cleaned up.

Equity Edge wants the green logo and the "millions paid" slogan stuck in your head.

Keep the other number instead: $2,500 denied on a $10,000 account, on timestamps that did not match the rule they allegedly sent, while the original post went missing.

Prop firms love to say traders break rules. Traders keep learning the real rule: the payout desk can invent one.
